Workshop: Using AI in Plan Reviews

Wednesday, June 24, 20263:00 PM EST • 60 minonline

Hands-on AI techniques for code compliance, completeness checks, and plan review checklists — free tools, immediate results.

AI is already changing how plan reviews get done — and the departments using it are seeing results the same week.

This workshop is for plan reviewers, building officials, and anyone involved in the review process. Whether you've never used AI or you're already experimenting, you'll leave with techniques you can apply immediately.

Everything we cover uses free, publicly available tools — Claude, ChatGPT, Co-Pilot. No procurement required.

We'll walk through:

• Code compliance checks — using AI to flag issues against IBC/IRC • Completeness reviews — catching missing documents and details before they slow you down • Building calculators — structural, energy, and occupancy lookups in seconds • Plan review checklists — generating jurisdiction-specific checklists from your local amendments • Q&A — bring your own plans, permits, or questions

This workshop is completely free, and led by Ed Maclean, the co-founder of Set4. Set4 is a leading permitting solutions startup, piloting with cities and counties across the nation to deploy AI in their permit workflows.
